Mark and Svenja really like Cluj-Napoca

Dear MSA team,

the time has come, we have completed the first semester und have now time to report about our experiences. The university has a very confusing and bureaucratic application procedure, but thanks to MSA all went off without a hitch. The study advisers were available via telephone at all times, if there were questions or problems.

The city is very well connected to Germany and you can fly home at an affordable price during the semester (Wizzair). Cluj is a very young city with many students from all over the world. The city center and pedestrian area has a special charm, due to many old buildings, and offers enough possibilities for going out. The university is located on a small hill at the verge of the city center and can be reached easily. Also many facilities of the institute are located there, so that you do not have to walk long distances. The university is currently investing a lot of money in the facilities and laboratories, which are partially ageing, in order to update them.

We are really enjoying the degree program. We have lectures with max. 100 students and seminars resp. laboratory lessons in small groups. To some extent the lecturers know our names and surnames, which can be an advantage or disadvantage. The degree program is most interesting and demands, like is it is normal for studying medicine, a lot of willingness to learn and endurance. During the semester there are many small tests and exams and therefore you are being prepared for the big exams optimally. Most important is the close solidarity with fellow students, which are helping each other a lot. Also the students of higher semesters are supporting us. You are quickly adapting to English as the main language, even though there are many German students (ca. 60%).

All in all, we can recommend studying there, even though it is a bit unorganized and bureaucratic sometimes. It is the best, if you first get a personal impression of the city. You will see that you will quickly drop the prejudices about Romania.

Ragrds from Cluj,
Mark and Svenja
