Medicine: Since 1992, lectures have been held not only in Czech, but also in English. That makes Prague a good alternative for students who wish to study Medicine and who would otherwise have to wait for a long time. The duration of the studies at the Charles University is six years.
The first two years are devoted to preclinical subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology or Biochemistry, as well as to medical terminology. In addition, there are also a Czech language course and a sports course. The theoretical education and the preclinical training take place primarily in Prague. The basic principles are taught in lectures, and acquired knowledge is consolidated with the help of seminars and exercises. In the following academic years, the clinical areas are predominant. The clinical training takes place in the different faculties of the hospital at Charles University. German-speaking students who are interested may finish their education in the clinical subjects, from the 4th academic year, mainly at the Klinikum Chemnitz.

Awarded title: Master degree MUDr. – “Medicinae Universae Doctor” (M.D.) = Doctor of General Medicine

Dentistry: Apart from the English-speaking programme in Medicine, the Charles University in Prague also offers a programme in Dentistry. The regular course of studies lasts for 10 semesters. In order to study Dentistry at the Charles University in Prague, you have to pass the same entrance examination as the candidates applying for a study place in Medicine.

Awarded title: Master degree MDDr. – “Medicinae Dentalis Doctor” = Doctor of Dental Medicine
