Faculty of Pharmacy of the Riga Stradins University

The Faculty of Pharmacy of the Riga Stradins University is offering the pharmacy degree for more then 90 years. Pharmacy is one of the oldest and most prestigious subjects of the RSU.

For the general public, pharmacists are one of the most easily accessible groups of specialists. Pharmacists may work at pharmaceutical factories, pharmacies, scientific research institutes and hospitals. In the last decades, the amount of pharmacy products has increased so quickly as the need for pharmacists and experts in the field. Qualified pharmacists are essential for the smooth functioning of pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, pharmaceutical wholesale businesses and other pharmacy institutions and facilities of the health care system. Pharmacists have extensive knowledge about medicine products –their origin, their applications, their effects on the human body, their production and their distribution– as well as comprehensive knowledge in the fields of the human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, and law requirements regarding medical products. This makes pharmacists a bridge between doctors and patients.

Pharmacy is a dynamic profession –the changes in medical products and technological achievements require continuous learning and the broadening of one’s own knowledge.  The broader the knowledge of a pharmacist, the better the quality of the information they give, and the better the fulfilment of their professional expectations. Because being a pharmacist does not only mean to have the necessary knowledge –they are also known for their empathy and their desire to help people.

The Faculty of Pharmacy of the Riga Stradins University offers a full-time Master’s degree in Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacy, with the aim to answer the growing demand of pharmacists with people who have a professional and critical approach to the use of pharmaceutical products. In addition, they will be capable to improve the health and well-being of people by providing them with the newest developments in pharmacy. These degrees are also offered on a part-time basis.
