The faculty of dentistry, which is located in the Hospital General de Catalunya in Sant Cugat, educates future professionals, who are being enabled to deal with the prevention, the treatment and the rehabilitation of dental and oral diseases. Especially hard skills are in great demand here, which are complemented with the connection to the continuous practical part during the study.
The practical knowledge is the key point of the training as it is the essential educational objective of the faculty of dentistry. In order to reach this goal, there are professional dentists as tutors for the students available.
The dentistry training at the UIC is complemented with the technology, which is state-of-the-art, so that the students can benefit from the practical units. Among other things, the UIC has received a new device for the so called „Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), which has just come out in the dental sector recently.
The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and especially the faculty, place great value on the practical skills, because the knowledge about controlling the dental instruments is fundamental for the inclusion of the students in the job market.
The clinic is divided into nine sub-areas, which the students have to pass through. The lessons are conducted in English. In the five years, resp. ten semesters of the dentistry study course, 300 ECTS have to be reached in order to graduate. The dental clinic has 14 laboratories, 56 cabins for the practical exercises and assigns 40.000 appointments each year.
